Project Moshen - Philadelphia's All Female Jazz Dance Company

Philadelphia's All Female Jazz Dance Company

Founded in 2010, Project Moshen set out to revive the style of jazz dance in Philadelphia. Combining the artistic side and the commercial side of dance, Artistic Director Kelli Moshen, blends the two styles & elements together to showcase her fast, intricate, urban style of jazz dance.

Project Moshen produces two shows a year, performs at various events, visits schools in the community, and holds master classes at Philadelphia area universities. Through these efforts, the company hopes to spread their passion, creativity, and knowledge of jazz dance to the community, along with bringing this style of jazz back to life in Philadelphia.

21st Annual Philly Fur Ball 2018

The 21st annual Morris Animal Refuge PHILLY FUR BALL kicked off this past weekend at the Philadelphia Simeone Foundation Museum, honoring Governor Ed Rendell and Animal Planet!

The Morris Animal Refuge is an open admission animal shelter dedicated to helping the homeless, abandoned and unwanted pets of the Philadelphia region. Founded in 1874, by Elizabeth Morris, the shelter was the first organization dedicated to sheltering and rehoming pets. The Morris Animal Refuge continues that legacy today by providing adoptions, a low-cost spay/neuter program, fostering, humane education and more. The “Philly Fur Ball” is the Morris Animal Refuge’s annual charity event, which celebrates the foundation, raising awareness, and supporting the animals. Project Moshen was honored to be performing and supporting this cause for the 4th year in a row.

Philly Fur Ball gets better & better every year. To excite returning guests, this year’s theme was Havana Nights. The old-fashioned car museum was decorated to pay homage to Old Havana’s pastel colonial architecture, salsa music, Cuban plants, cool lighting provided by Enlight, and checkered dance floor! There was authentic Cuban food and drinks provided by 12 st. Catering, Insomnia Cookies, Tastykake, Bluecoat Gin, Tito’s Vodka and the Bluebird Distillery. MAR had Cuban cigars, fedoras, maracas and more! The gala was filled with exciting highlights, including: guest emcee Steve Morrison from 93.3 WMMR Radio,  Governor Ed Rendell, Entertainment by DJ Perry Angelozzi, and (of course) Project Moshen! Project Moshen kicked off the night taking the guest out of Philly and bringing them to Cuba. ProMo Girls dressed in sassy Cuban flair and performed a high energy, entertaining, jazz and salsa inspired dance to Throw your Hands up by Quote and Pitbull. After performing for the crowd, the dancers of Project Moshen spent the evening getting the guests out of their seats and onto the dance floor, to dance the night away!

Project Moshen would like to thank Morris Animal Refuge for all their support over the years and inviting them to participate in The Philly Fur Ball for an amazing cause! Be sure to catch the dancers of Project Moshen in “WOMAN” at the Performance Garage, on April 13th-15th. Click here for tickets & show information.
